Defeated Sanity – Chapters of Repugnance (2010)

Brutal Death Metal (Berlin, Germany)
Here’s some more brutal death metal/jazz fusion.  This was Defeated Sanity’s third full-length before releasing Passages into Deformity.  Willowtip Records called Chapters of Repugnance the most brutal album of 2010 and this was the first artwork that the label’s printer refused to print.

Defeated Sanity – Passages into Deformity (2013)

Brutal Death Metal (Berlin, Germany)
I enjoy listening to Defeated Sanity because they make me feel like an advanced metal-head.  I don’t think you could really enjoy these guys unless you’ve already been pretty well-versed in brutal death metal.  By the end of this album, it sounds like they're playing death metal jazz.  I think Defeated Sanity should just put out a full-on death metal/jazz album.

Embryonic Devourment – Reptilian Agenda (2013)

Brutal Death Metal (Willits, CA)
Embryonic Devourment are easily my favorite technical death metal band.  In fact, I really didn’t like much technical metal until I discovered these guys.  Reptilian Agenda is their third full-length available at Deepsend Records.  Their first two CDs, Fear of Reality Exceeds Fantasy and Vivid Interpretations of the Void, are also highly recommended.

Ed Gein – Bad Luck (2011)

Grindcore/Hardcore (Syracuse, NY)
Bad Luck is Ed Gein’s third album, released on Black Market Activities.  Their first two albums, It’s a Shame a Family Can Be Torn Apart by Something as Simple as a Pack of Wild Dogs and Judas Goats & Dieseleaters, are also highly recommended.

Soy – Tempeh Fugit (2013)

Grindcore/Powerviolence (Victoria, BC)
Soy play a lot of metal riffs but their vocals and overall delivery make them sound like a powerviolence band, giving them a unique and original sound.  Tempeh Fugit is their third self-released recording.

Mellow Harsher – Mellow Harsher (2012)

Grindcore/Powerviolence (Stoughton, WI)
These guys play crushingly fast.  The Mellow Harsher 7" is available at 625 Thrashcore and Give Praise Records.

xbrainiax – Disgrace to the Corpse of Eric Wood (2005)

Powerviolence (Clinton Township, MI)
xbrainiax were one of the more faster bands to play powerviolence.  Disgrace to the Corpse of Eric Wood is probably their most definitive release.
